Success For Local School - John Muir Award Week
This week, our Crew had the pleasure of spending time with, Mont Nicolle School, running our John Muir Award. The kids were eager to learn, and explore, while having a great time doing it. We received an amazing Thank You card from the students - see instructors, Harry and Katie, below!
The John Muir Award is quickly becoming a popular way for schools on the Island to incorporate outdoor learning into their curriculums. It’s a four-day programme that shifts learning from the traditional classroom to the great outdoors. It’s also an effective way to engage students with nature and teach them about conservation and environmental topics while they explore Jersey’s beautiful coastline.
The programme includes various activities that promote community service and wildlife conservation. Students have the opportunity to pick up rubbish, clean up beaches, and get their hands dirty in various other ways.
They learn about the importance of protecting the environment and how each of us can do our part to keep our planet healthy.
Not only does the John Muir Award provide a unique educational experience, but also promotes a love for the outdoors and environment stewardship.
By participating in this programme, students not only learn about the world around them, but they also learn how to take care of it.
What do Students say:
“Thank You for this week! My favourite part was picking Sour Fig - Thanks so much!” - Maisie
